Crafting a Healing Amulet: TB Course Healing Project

ree

“The purpose of this project is to explore the diverse ways that Hekate, Her many epithets, and Her symbols may assist with one’s journey of healing – physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually. We acknowledge that healing is not linear but, rather, cyclical like the changing seasons, with comparison being drawn to the story of Persephone’s yearly descent into the Underworld and her subsequent return to the Land of the Living. As we continuously grow and evolve, our healing journeys may take us through our own cycles of death and rebirth. We wish to shed light on the seemingly darker aspects of Hekate that may be called upon in such workings, but also Her lighter elements that will inevitably be found in the ultimate restoration of balance that healing affords us.” - Rev Renée Sosanna Olsen

The first way we explored healing with Hekate was through Her Sacred Grove. Next was through Integrative Healing with Hekate. Thirdly in this series, we offer you a Hekatean Healing Amulet craft.

Crafting a Hekatean Healing Amulet for Hekate's Night

By Goldie, COH Devotee

To create your own Hekatean healing amulet, here is a guideline for suggested materials to use. Remember that this is just a guideline; take what you like of this and make it your own. I suggest some herbs here but I always recommend finding the herbs that grow around your location so that they have more meaning to you.

● White or blue cord or leather strap representing health, calmness and healing

● A small vial or blue pouch

● Herbs associated with Hekate and healing such as lavender, chamomile, bay leaf, or rosemary

● A small amethyst or clear quartz stone for healing and spiritual clarity

● Charms or symbols of Hekate e.g., a triple moon charm, a key, a crossroads sigil, or your personal favourites

● White or blue candle for the consecration ritual

● A small dish of salt or purified water (Khernips) for cleansing

On Hekate's Night, [a modern observance held Nov 16th] follow this ritual to consecrate and empower your amulet.

Prepare Your Altar: Set up an altar with a white or blue candle in addition to your regular candles, your preferred offerings for Hekate (such as lavender, honey, bread, etc.) and your unassembled amulet materials.

Cleanse Your Materials: Before you start, it is recommended to cleanse all the materials to remove any unwanted energies. You can do this by passing them through the smoke of healing herbs like lavender or rosemary, or for those with sensitivities, you can place them in a dish of salt overnight.

Intention: Hold each item in your hands and focus on your intention. Visualize Hekate's healing energy flowing into each item. You might say a simple affirmation like, "By Hekate's power, I ask Her to charge this [item] with healing."

Assembly: Place the herbs and stone(s) into the vial or pouch. As you add each item, speak your intention clearly. For example, "Lavender to soothe the soul, chamomile to calm the spirit, amethyst to heal and bring clarity." Add the charms or symbols of Hekate as you feel guided.

Tie the Cord: Use the white or blue cord or leather strap to tie the vial or pouch securely. Knot it three times and say something like, "By the first knot I ask for Hekate's healing; by the second knot I ask this charm to be infused with peace, and by the third knot I seal this amulet in Her name."

Pray to Hekate: Light the candle and pray for Hekate's presence. You can use a hymn or prayer, such as: "Hekate, Queen of the Night, Keeper of the Keys, Healer of Hearts, I call upon thee. Bless this amulet with your power and might, Heal and restore, both day and night. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Consecrate the Amulet: Hold the amulet above the flame or pass it through the smoke of your preferred burning herbs. Say, "Hekate, I hold this token in your name. Empower it with your healing. Let it heal my body, mind and essence." Visualize Her energy flowing into the amulet.

Offerings and Thanks: Place your offerings to Hekate on your altar (or sacred space if you don’t have an altar) and express your gratitude.

Carry the amulet with you, wear it as a necklace, or place it in a space where you seek healing. To maintain its potency, you can periodically recharge it during the new moon or by repeating the consecration ritual. You may also anoint it with oils or pass it through smoke to refresh its energy.

May this practice guide you toward healing, balance, and a deeper connection with Hekate's mysteries.
