Interview with Vic Duban

Hello fellow devotees!

Today I'm excited to share another great interview from a Hekate devotee. I found very interesting how many of the experiences people have shared with me in the past have in common something related to mental health and how Hekate appeared during difficult times.

EB: Please, share a bit about you. Anything you'd like the readers to know about who you are.

VD: Greetings, all. My name is Vic Dubanowitz Jr., Im 52 years old, male, married w/ 4 adult children, 4 grandchildren, 3 dogs, & 1 cat.  Im an eclectic and/or chaos witch. My main occupation is vet-tech for 29 years. I did serve in the US Army from 90-96. I'm a musician, artist, etc. I'm a master of all trades :)    I love nature spending the majority of my life in the hills of  the Endless Mtn region of Pennsylvania. I also love foraging all the available foods nature provided to us. Before finding my path I sorta followed the Native American beliefs. I'm currently in the CoH Torchbearers class.   

EB: How did Hekate enter your life?

VD: ( possible trigger )   

Roughly a dozen year ago I was going through a "dark night of the soul" thinking I was going absolutely insane.  I was close to the end diagnosed with ptsd, depression, & anxiety.   One day being very depressed, I headed for the basement and that's when the black spirit dog with red eyes appeared.  It looked at me upset then disappeared into the basement wall. That meeting really made me think. I knew the dog showed for some reason. Fast forward to the following summer, my wife surprised me w/ a female black lab and I named her Nyx. This dog is now part of me, and/.or my familiar. What a very special dog.   

Years of fighting with my issues my doctor sent me to a therapist and I started doing EMDR sessions ( Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). The EMDR led me on my spiritual path.  I took up meditation, astral plaining, lucid dreaming, & learning to be present.  Hekate has appeared in my dreams & meditations often.  She also shows up during spell work & points me in the right direction at the crossroads.   

E.B: When did you first hear about Her?

VD: I first heard about Hekate through social media researching about my experiences. 

E.B: How did you find out Hekate's call?

from that moment onwards... how did you start a "relationship" with Her? (Through daily devotions, for example).

VD: Hekate's call was through dreams, my meditation, & my job as a vet-tech and my own dogs.  (Funny side note, my wife wanted to go to a psychic and the psychic was blown away by the black spirit dog protecting & sitting by me. Well before we went, I asked Hekate to protect me from false readings).

From that moment I created an altar and started daily devotions.    I have become very close to her and consider her my mother.  

E.B: Why you decide to become a member of the CoH?

VD: I decided to be come a member of CoH to find like minded people and learn as much as possible so I can become a better soul & human.
