In 2018 a group of members of the Covenant of Hekate collaborated in the Hekate’s Companion Project, exploring deities which they perceived to be companions of Hekate and ultimately writing hymns to Hekate and these gods and goddesses.
This hymn to Hekate and Poseidon was one of the results.
Hail Hekate! Hail Poseidon!
Glory to the mighty who who reign over the Sea,
From the darkest depths,
To the sunkissed shores
And the lonely islands.
Hail Hekate, Oceanic Queen, brave daughter of Perses,
Lady of Lagina and the Aegean Sea.
Hail Poseidon, Lord of Helean and wide Aegae,
Brazen son of Cronos.
You are exalted for your progeny,
Poseidon’s children cover the earth,
From rivers to lakes and all watery places they are known.
Hekate’s witches weave their spells,
Beautiful and deadly,
On the sea and shore.
Their emotions raw as salt,
Passions deep as Tartarus,
As willful as the waves
And eternal as the tides.
Bound are they to the Sea,
From which all life springs.
Givers of life,
Reigning from the deep,
Reminding us that all life is
Born from a dark, wet womb.
Hail Poseidon! Hail Hekate!
